Our approach is systematic! It aims to discover the reasons behind your symptoms. This is where we differ from traditional approaches that try to treat or suppress the symptoms without ever really addressing the root cause. 

We treat you as an individual; with a unique complex and interwoven set of circumstances, environments and physiology.

We support some of the most common conditions using traditional, ancient and contemporary methods. We also have had considerable success working with clients who experience many unexplained illnesses. 

One way to illustrate how functional medicine works is to examine the wisdom “medicine tree”. The functional medicine tree displays how the body’s metabolic functions are interconnected.

Consider that the branches of a tree are your body’s metabolic systems. How they function has a lot to do with the content of the “soil” and how the “roots” deliver water and nutrients as they do for a tree. How your metabolism is functioning actually has more to do with your environment, diet, and lifestyle, than your genetics.

If your diet and lifestyle are not supporting your body’s metabolic functions optimally, metabolic dysfunction can result.

The roots of the tree deliver the nutrients to make the branches healthy. If there is poor quality soil or not enough water, the tree may become diseased.

From a functional perspective, diet and lifestyle can be compared to the roots of a tree. In coaching clients, this would include helping them to uncover hidden causes of metabolic imbalances with functional lab testing; finding the right diet for their body type; guiding them on the appropriate amount of movement and exercise; addressing opportunities to improve sleep and rest; supporting them with techniques to manage their stress; and, providing natural supplement recommendations where needed.

The fruits of this wisdom “medicine tree” are the outputs of a healthy lifestyle and the realisation of wellness.

What happens in an Holistic health consultation?

Our holistic health consultations start with a complete picture of your health (body, mind and spirit).

Before the consultation, you fill out a health questionnaire which will facilitate a conversation with Dr Arti Patel about where you have been in your state of health, where you are now and where you can go. This will help you to better understand your unique constitutional makeup, and the different ways to uncover your true state of health.

You will come away with recommendations on:

  • what and how to eat; 
  • a daily routine; 
  • ayurvedic herbs and treatments;
  • aromatherapy;
  • meditation;
  • mantras;
  • energetic healings; 
  • yogic practices and so much more. 

This holistic perspective can help you find a greater balance in every aspect of your life. Our consultations are designed to show you the light of Ayurveda, so you can become your own healer, and improve your health, no matter what arises for you. 

Initial consultations are 75 minutes to allow for a thorough assessment. Follow-up sessions may be shorter or longer based on your needs. We use various options for consultations such as face-to-face, Skype, and Zoom.

    Get help in adopting healthy wellness and lifestyle practices thorough the age old traditions of Ayurveda, Siddha, Tantra and Yoga.

Often we find that the causes of an illness can be seemingly unrelated issues. For example, chronic fatigue syndrome or joint pain may be caused by digestive issues or thyroid problems.

This helps us piece together the puzzle and take a more integrated, holistic understanding. After using a systematic approach to assess your symptoms we create an individualised  plan tailored specifically to your needs.

Our focus is on restoring balance to the body, mind and spirit by adjusting the environment and lifestyle factors that may have led to the disease or condition. 

This approach leads to interventional therapies that focus on restoring health and function rather than simply controlling signs and symptoms.

As a practitioner it is ensured that all routes to wellness are addressed with the patient. This will normally involve:

  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Decreasing toxicity
  • Normalising inflammatory function
  • Optimising metabolic function
  • Balancing regulatory systems
  • Enhancing regeneration
  • Helping people to live in harmony with their life force and nature
